Why I Rec This Fic: There are some really nice stories about Briar Rose and her relationship to her new name and role, but most of them are really sad (which they are allowed to be, its a topic with plenty of room for that) but softie as i am tend to be more drawn to this one: Its hopeful.

Genie does a great Brando.
It's a wasted talent, because Al wouldn't know the difference between Vito Corleone and Stanley Kowalski if his life depended on it, and Genie's never gonna leave Al, not now, no way, not in a million years. (Well, okay, he'll leave him in fifty-two years, when Al's gonna die of a freak trampling accident in a ripe old age, but that's when Genie will start watching over Al's oldest, who wouldn't recognize a perfectly pitched "Stella!" either.)

Lilo sucks in a breath, lowers her hand, and opens her mouth wide. “Crying all the time,” she sings back, adding an exaggerated twang to her voice. They’re both laughing by the time that Nani pulls in to Lilo’s school.

Fallon’s ears twitch -- rather noticeably, Matt thinks in irritation. He can more or less conceal his true nature, but separated or not, Fallon is his nature, is everything inside him.
Piritta notices, of course, and will not stand for Fallon’s sudden moodiness. She noses at Darwin and Fallon until they obediently settle themselves on her paws. She nuzzles at both of the small daemons’ heads before giving them each a long, affectionate lick.
“She’s going to mess up Darwin’s feathers,” Karen says. Matt can hear the muscles contract in her face as she smiles.
“And Fallon’s fur,” Matt adds, but it’s not really a complaint. It’s no secret that Fallon loves Piritta’s attention. Fallon’s contented humming is probably audible even to Foggy and Karen’s ears.

Marci is still held together, but in a completely different way, letting herself get carried away by enthusiasm as she helps the girls unpack her entire handbag and messily apply some of her lipstick on Foggy. She applies tiny dots of lipstick to Fae's cheeks and teaches Mariam to braid Foggy's hair. They spray themselves silly with a tiny bottle of Marci's perfume, and Foggy's apartment begins to smell like the inside of an expensive boutique.

Matt, like the total boy scout he never was, reaches into his jacket and produces the piece of paper they affectively sold their souls and livelihoods to Judge Yancey in order to get after hours. Foggy makes a note to send her some flowers on Monday.

(Also this remainds me of Disneys Filmore and that alone makes me smile)

“Did you just screw somebody on school grounds?” Foggy demands. Karen looks delighted, and Mr. Urich, reading a paperback in the corner, makes a noise like he’s already died several times today.
Matt pauses. It’s a very long pause, a suspiciously long pause, even.

“He just had illicit school sex and he wants to talk about the newspaper,” Foggy says, to no one in particular, standing up to give Matt his seat at the computer while Karen leans over to start the screen reader. “I’m surrounded by lunatics.”
“I know the feeling,” Mr. Urich says, darkly.
He should probably be giving them detention for most of the things they do, but Foggy’s pretty confident he won’t do anything that could cause him extra paperwork. The public school system will do that to a person.

The first time Matt calls her instead of dropping by, it’s from Claire’s apartment, and Karen’s out the door before he even hangs up. They spend a few hours on Claire’s couch, hashing over the information he has on some corrupt city official and the best ways to legally verify it enough to publish, while Claire fixes him up and shuts down some of the most ludicrous suggestions (Matt doesn’t have a frame of reference for feasible, not overly dangerous plans, and Karen is really not all that better). After they’ve done all the can for the night and it’s been determined that Matt will be fine, he and Claire start cleaning up while Karen curls up and writes in her notebook. She’s exhausted though and ends up drifting off pretty quickly to the sound of their companionable arguing.
Karen wakes up in the morning after a rare decent night’s sleep (it was probably at most 4 hours, but there weren’t any nightmares so she’s pretty rested) underneath a slightly scratchy but warm afghan. Claire’s already up, getting ready for work and making coffee, which she offers to Karen when she sleepily pads into the kitchen.

It isn't much better there, what with kids and adults being cruel, but ballet gives her strength, gives her discipline, offers her a space where she can simply be without worrying about anything else. When she performs, Rosa sometimes thinks she could do this for the rest of her life, but.
It's a pretty big but. Something in her craves more. Something in her thinks of all the taunts she's endured since the beginning and she still clenches her fists, still has to repress the urge to punch a wall. Didn't she deserve better than that? Didn't everyone and anyone who had to go through the same?

Why I Rec This Fic: Characters who are afraid to hope in fear to be dissapointed are my jam – and so are characters who are stubbornly hopeful – combine this two to a ship? I am very happy.
The voices for them are great and I specialy love the respect/love the writer has for Iris kind of strengh (as I have seen lots of characters like her being mistreated by fandom).

So far there is a real sweet moment between Pelena and Crowe, and the promise of growing and healing - my fav theme for fiction.

That’s what she fixates on while the doctor pokes her here and there and waves a penlight in front of her eyes. Not the fact that she had almost zero chance of survival and even less for recovery; the fact that nothingness could have been her last memory on Eos. Why I Rec This Fic: This kind of after life makes me for a lack of better word nervous/uneasy, but I can see that behind this personal feelings of mine, this is actually 100% soft fluff, and this characters really deserve a chance at „live“ and love.

Why I Rec This Fic: great writing style and this theme of making children into tools for their politics is a) super important to the canon game b) something i am always down for, for some reason.

He imagines it sometimes: the queen flipping through a portfolio, looking at the headshots of children from across Lucis; reading the carefully compiled family histories and political ties; picking out her own favorites from the candidate pool, lifting their names to the top. He imagines that she smiled when she saw his dossier, when she saw that they’d been born in the same region. Ignis rises up from the ground in one fluid motion, graceful like a flower or some shit. Gladio really likes watching him move around; Gladio’s also pretty bad at hiding it, if Ignis’ blush is anything to go by. That’s also a really good look. He gets his lance and sticks it firmly into the ground in the center of the grassy patch, then backs a couple yards away.
“If this is just your jumping off the roof thing, I don’t need to see it again.”
Ignis ignores him, the way he apparently needs to a lot of the time so he doesn’t stop hanging out with Gladio. Gladio’s pretty sure now that the whole kissing thing’s a thing, Ignis is just pretending to get fed up, but he’s also pretty sure he doesn’t get to do the kissing thing if he doesn’t play along. The kissing thing is important, and Gladio’s real good at playing along.

Ignis gives a soft, surprised little laugh. "If it please Your Highness," he says, and the use of Noct's old title makes Gladio's heart skip a beat. If he'd closed his eyes it could be fifteen years ago, Noct taking Ignis by the sleeve and absconding with him on official business, straight-faced and serious like like it wasn't blatantly obvious what the two of them were planning on doing, like Noct hasn't been dragging Ignis into darkened corridors and empty rooms since Gladio was old enough to wear his family's crest.

It's a wasted talent, because Al wouldn't know the difference between Vito Corleone and Stanley Kowalski if his life depended on it, and Genie's never gonna leave Al, not now, no way, not in a million years. (Well, okay, he'll leave him in fifty-two years, when Al's gonna die of a freak trampling accident in a ripe old age, but that's when Genie will start watching over Al's oldest, who wouldn't recognize a perfectly pitched "Stella!" either.)

What made me cry: Larsa is so damn young, he is bound to a country that won´t love him back, that he will lose. Most characters in Final Fantasy12 are bound by their past, by guilt and regrets, by grief and anger, Vaan, Penelo and to an extend Larsa symbolize a hope for a different way, a future that may be better, to see it all crumble to dust is probably realistic but also heartbreaking.

What made me cry: This was one of my favorite movies growing up and I am still very emotional invested in it, I always love the sidekicks and i have to admit there is a certain level of „fear of abandonment/sidelining“ that i dig – so Itchy, was my fav character from that movie, but there is a certain level – and this is another reason I love this that this is not about wallowing in self pity but about learning to live on and cling on to what is left of their family (for both of them) (a family can be two dogs one who is undead and a orphan girl who helps them gamble).
I love that beside the anger born out of grief there is also the acknowledge of the “not moving” part of depression.
It also is just very respectful and kind toward AnneMarie her kindness and the fact that she too lived through trauma.

“But... she is, isn’t she. An orphan, a pup, just like Charlie and Itchy and Flo and Flo’s kids, all of them abandoned one way or the other to survive on their own.“

What made me cry: Its about the selfishness of love, guilt and grief, and it allows them both to be angry and inperfect but with the promise that they will be okay.

And the he is unmistakable now, the same one Yugi's heard a thousand times, always with the slight stumble in the conjugation: he, you, him. "...He did."

What made me cry: One of BB99 strenghts is the diversity in the main cast, and given that this little bits are too  about different expierinces (about being trans) and reading that just made me happy (and tear up).

They pack her off to ballet academy, citing disciplinary issues and a tendency for violence. It isn't much better there, what with kids and adults being cruel, but ballet gives her strength, gives her discipline, offers her a space where she can simply be without worrying about anything else. When she performs, Rosa sometimes thinks she could do this for the rest of her life, but.
It's a pretty big but. Something in her craves more. Something in her thinks of all the taunts she's endured since the beginning and she still clenches her fists, still has to repress the urge to punch a wall. Didn't she deserve better than that? Didn't everyone and anyone who had to go through the same?
She wants to protect people. She wants to give children something to look up to, hold on to. And maybe she can do that with Swan Lake, but maybe there's another way, too.

What made me cry: The writing style is beautiful, and I adore the very non canon handling of female character agency (also beauty (that and the disordered eating are my personal bangs but all of it really hits the marks) because let´s face it canon is horrible with it. The story has a dark background (see warnings) but with a lovely focus on healing (something i love deeply).and the support of the sisters for each other.

Her legs ache with every step. Her knees creak, her breath burns in her throat. There is a heavy collar on her neck that she will carry for the rest of her life. It will sink her to the bottom of the sea. I am a Kuja, she thinks, all of fourteen. A Kuja. A Kuja. A Kuja.

Instead of continuing and magically curing Nami of all of her brokenness like she needs to happen, Vivi draws away on the bed, concern evident in the way she furrows her brow.

What made me cry: It is tagged with: „#zeff's story is the story of an immigrant parent and you cannot convince me otherwise“ - and thats why i read it no lie - totally worth it – the mix of gratefulness, and guilt – wanting to stay and repay but not being the kind of person who is made for that. Gin learning to read and write, touched me deeply too.
Its a story about growing and healing, and the love feels very warm. It makes me want to see Sanji grow healthy, happy and all (Gin too but that is even in canon because i am weak). This fic also has a great writing style and nice world building details.

Then and now, Sanji had wanted to say, I would live the rest of my life for you. I would count out all my days like coins to place in your palm and still it would not be enough for what I’ve taken from you, for all the possibilities like universes without end that even together amount to less than your singular sacrifice. But if you ask, I would stay, I would stay, I would learn to want to stay.
Zeff wouldn’t ask. Still looks at Sanji now like he is something unbelievable. Like Sanji is something good.
Both times, Sanji had said, with sincerity enough to blister, but still only, “Thank you,” what else did he have to give, for every day since that first day, for letting me grow, for letting me go, for seeing the good in me worth every life-drop of All Blue.

What made me cry: Fanfiction is there to here the stories that mainstream/canon doesn't want to tell, and this works so well with the theme from the movie of story telling/truth as not being a constant but depending on the narrator/listener.
The atmosphere is very thigh, the heat, the small-townness, the time – the realness of her sorrows as woman in the world; there are many things I recognize from people around, the line "She couldn't divorce him; he'd never beat her, and to the best of her knowledge he wasn't stepping out on her." specially.

"How'd you do that, Aunt Bertha?" Jenny had asked, fascinated. Wasn't often she'd heard stories where girls got to do things that weren't proper. In fact, this might be the first one.

"You always were the best piano player in town. Of course you could make it as a teacher, if you really wanted to."
"I do, Momma," Jenny said. "I do."

... where was she, in the story?
