Why I Rec This Fic: I like the 1 Sentence format cause it allows to write about the many different facets that make something. Also: aro! Luke. Ace! Luke!

Why I Rec This Fic: Its not my usual Han/Lando dynamic but this fic is great great fun. Chewie is perfect and has despite hanging with the biggest loser of the galaxy the time of his life because he just loves to say „I told you so“. Also there is quite a bit Wookie linguistic nerd-y so if thats not a selling point. And Lando & Chewie friendship.
Han and Chewie have worked out a thing, where Chewie goes along with what Han says will happen, and then, when it doesn’t, Chewie will mop up the pieces of what does, in fact, happen, and save both their lives, and only growl I told you so maybe six to eight times when they’re safely back on the Falcon and everyone’s bleeding has been safely patched up; and, if while all this is happening, they come across any Wookiees who are in need of help, then Chewie can drop everything to go help them, and Han will not bitch, and he will provide back-up or explosives or at least stand at a safe distance yelling “bang” in what is intended to be a helpful manner.

Why I Rec This Fic: R2D2 being Lukes too smart mouthy kid who has to get used to his new stepmom! Cool alien concepts and relation, great orginal crew, nice Luke and R2 relationship! pining and unresolved romantic/sexual tension with a reason to stay unresolved!
I know next to nothing about Mara before reading this fic, so I can’t attest to any canon conformity of the fic, but she is an interesting character, who straddles the line between practical, competent & also angry and caring: she does care for her trade partners, for her crew and for Luke even if she is not the best at showing it in a way that may be understood and I love that in a character. From the author "I don't buy it when Mara is described as 'cold'. My suspicions are always raised when that word is ascribed to a lady in any capacity." honestly same.
"None starved through last winter's sleep. It is a first for our colony," the Grand Mother explains, ignoring the translation unit. The Grand Mother is six times as big as a male, and rotund besides. She's close to laying another round of larvae soon. The Honored Children (all sisters) of the Grand Mother are all about, under the dome of the elaborately woven house. They click their mandibles like a round of polite clapping.
"I am gratified to hear of your bounty of children," Mara replies.
"I thank you! And it pleases Us to learn you have added employee-children to your tribe."
It has been a struggle to convey the physical differences between a humanoid species and aracnoid, let alone the cultural gulf the old translation unit does little to bridge. Mara has surmounted the trouble by explaining humans only have one to six children in a lifetime and so would 'build' their tribes from non-relations as an explanation for her coworkers helping her. The Grand Mother, along with all her drone children were astounded and confused, but apparently came to think that it must be a great feat to acquire 'employees' from their existing family units and to keep them happy with pretty stones.
