Title: As Above, So Below by sharklion
Fandom: Yu Gi Oh GX
Character/Pairing: Jim Crocodile Cook, Axel Brodie
Jim Crocodile Cook/Axel Brodie
Word Count: 525
Warnings: implied character death
Summary: Prompt: Last kiss, Jim/O'Brien. Crossover with 5Ds but no appearance of 5Ds characters. "It takes them a good fifteen years, before the punishment for their good deeds catches up with them."
What made me cry: I love characters putting duty first, finding and fighting for a cause, i love couples who respect eachothers choices and strenghts and a bit of tragedy even if there are no regrets.
The line: „Walls go up, travel gets hard.“ gets extra bang! With current politics.
The city of Neo-Domino is a microcosm of the world— or maybe, the other way around: it happens one place, it happens everywhere. Walls go up, travel gets hard. The world gets hard— gap cleaved between the rich and poor gets cemented in rules, border checks.
Title: Frost and Flowers by Beth Harker (chiana606)
Fandom: Little Woman
Character/Pairing: Elizabeth March, Josephine March, Josephine March&Elizabeth March, Josephine March&Theodore Laurens
Word Count: 541
Summary: “Beth gets a postcard that helps her understand why Jo turned down Laurie's proposal.“
What made me cry: Beth is very relatable to me, the mix of sadness and relief about the role her sickness bounds her into, hits very close home for me. (still the fic is sweet, in Jo and Beths relationship as well as Beths mindset that values finding and sharing little beauty and joys in the world, even comforting and a bit hopeful.)
Beth could sew big, clumsy peonies onto any surface she wished. It was the kind of thing that made people smile, even if it was stupid and childish coming from a woman of nineteen, who might well have a household to run if life hadn't gotten away from her.

Fandom: One Piece

Character/Pairing: Monkey D. Luffy, Sanji
Monkey D. Luffy&Sanji
Summary: "Hey Luffy, how'd you get that scar on your face, anyway?"
(In which Luffy talks about his brothers, and Sanji doesn't make promises.)
What made me cry: As someone who has been depressed/suicidal for most of their live, the title alone makes me feel emotional, it is a nice sentiment to hear, the fic is real sweet and even a bit funny.
Title: The King of Jump Rope and the Athlete Queen by invocations
Fandom: Final Fantasy IX
Character/Pairing: Eiko Carol, Vivi Orunitia
Eiko Carol&Vivi Orunitia
Word Count: 1236
Summary: Vivi is moving slower and slower.
Why I Rec This Fic: The whole Vivi buisness is destinied to make me cry everytime, and Eiko stubborn childish determinated, is perfect, i needed fluff after this one.
She said in the newly-empty house, “But they’re only nine!” and he just turned the serene glow of his eyes to her, stilling her hand-flutterings and precarious teacup-wavings.
“I was only nine,” he reminded her. He looked down at his hands folded neatly on his lap.

But Puck is dead."
Warning: (Child) Character death, Angst,
Why I Rec This Fic: Heartbreaking; beautiful, very in character.
Title: Whole New World By Roga
Fandom: Aladdin (1992)
Character/Pairing: Genie, Aladdin
Word Count: 2227
Summary: "Genie always returns to Al."
What made me cry: Inmortality is always angst, add time travel and the thing is perfect. But its not just angst but also a very loving look at family and the world despite it all (including a Lilo and Stich reference) and that always make me feel better (after i have cried my heart out)
Genie does a great Brando.
It's a wasted talent, because Al wouldn't know the difference between Vito Corleone and Stanley Kowalski if his life depended on it, and Genie's never gonna leave Al, not now, no way, not in a million years. (Well, okay, he'll leave him in fifty-two years, when Al's gonna die of a freak trampling accident in a ripe old age, but that's when Genie will start watching over Al's oldest, who wouldn't recognize a perfectly pitched "Stella!" either.)
Title: Guided Meditation by AstroJunk
Fandom: Discworld: The colours of magic & The light of fantasy
Character/Pairing: Rincewind, Twoflower
Rincewind/Twoflower
Word Count: 2564
Summary: “#two bros chilling on a beach 5 feet apart because they're gay and afraid of intimacy“
What made me cry: The emotional unavailability, the (non)-closure of it all - the way the emotions are handled felt very real.(despite all that the fic is also quite funny)
"There’s some things we should probably talk about.” Rincewind considered scoffing, but something about the way Twoflower fluttered around the tension of what he was trying to say appealed to his empathy. “I want to apologize.” Rincewind held Twoflower’s hand loosely. It certainly felt like his hand, it had chubby fingers and soft knuckles and clean nails. In his mind, or maybe in his liver or his kidneys or his heart, Rincewind wanted it to be real, on a secret kind of level that he kept hidden from himself, except in those very embarrassing vulnerable kind of moments in the middle of the night. Twoflower continued, “I didn’t get the chance to say it, but I’m sorry.”
Rincewind let go and knelt down to the sand. This was exactly what he wanted to hear, which was only further proof that it wasn’t real.
Title: To Ring So Empty, or The Gradual Descent of Larsa Ferrinas Solidor in Ten Easy Steps by midnightdiddle (gooseberry)
Fandom: Final Fantasy XII
Character/Pairing: Larsa Ferrinas Solidor
Gabranth, Basch fon Ronsenburg, Penelo
Larsa/Penelo, Larsa&Basch fon Ronsenburg
Word Count: 2598
Summary: "In which Larsa, as the last member of House Solidor, tries to be the child-emperor a grieving Archadia needs."
Warning: underage sex (non explicit)
What made me cry: Larsa is so damn young, he is bound to a country that won´t love him back, that he will lose. Most characters in Final Fantasy12 are bound by their past, by guilt and regrets, by grief and anger, Vaan, Penelo and to an extend Larsa symbolize a hope for a different way, a future that may be better, to see it all crumble to dust is probably realistic but also heartbreaking.
"A city in the east has been attacked," Larsa says. "Should you be Gabranth, I would that you take to the east, and with you, as many men as you see fit. If you are Basch, I would that you take to the skies, and with you, as many friends as you might have."
Title: A Picture in My Mind (All I Have is) by Annie D (scaramouche)
Fandom: All Dogs go to heaven
Character/Pairing: Itchy, AnneMarie
Word Count: 2958
Summary: “Itchy doesn't want to think about what he's lost. (Set just after the 1989 film.)“
What made me cry: This was one of my favorite movies growing up and I am still very emotional invested in it, I always love the sidekicks and i have to admit there is a certain level of „fear of abandonment/sidelining“ that i dig – so Itchy, was my fav character from that movie, but there is a certain level – and this is another reason I love this that this is not about wallowing in self pity but about learning to live on and cling on to what is left of their family (for both of them) (a family can be two dogs one who is undead and a orphan girl who helps them gamble).
I love that beside the anger born out of grief there is also the acknowledge of the “not moving” part of depression.
It also is just very respectful and kind toward AnneMarie her kindness and the fact that she too lived through trauma.
“But... she is, isn’t she. An orphan, a pup, just like Charlie and Itchy and Flo and Flo’s kids, all of them abandoned one way or the other to survive on their own.“
Title:they say love is a virtue by lyricalecho
Fandom: Yu Gi Oh DM
Character/Pairing: Kaiba Mokuba, Yugi Muto
Mokuba Kaiba & Yugi Muto, Yugi Muto & Yami, Mokuba Kaiba & Seto Kaiba, Seto Kaiba & Yugi Muto, Seto Kaiba& Yami
Word Count: 3002
Summary: post-dsod: "Mokuba helps Yugi follow through on his dreams. Yugi helps Mokuba through a crisis of faith."
What made me cry: Its about the selfishness of love, guilt and grief, and it allows them both to be angry and inperfect but with the promise that they will be okay.
Mokuba shifts; tugs on his sleeves; looks away again. "During the tournament - when you dueled Diva - he came back, didn't he?"
And the he is unmistakable now, the same one Yugi's heard a thousand times, always with the slight stumble in the conjugation: he, you, him. "...He did."
Mokuba is quiet as though he's putting something into the world he can't take back. "If he had the choice," he says finally, "do you think that he would have stayed, if you asked?"
And - this is where they are, at last. The unspoken linchpin that's always existed between the two of them; the unvoiced assumption that's tethered all of their interactions. Everything and everything else about Mokuba aside: Yugi can think of nobody else in his life who understands quite as well what it is to exist as a fainter mirror, as a linked half.
Asking questions without asking questions. "Mokuba - " It's been two months. He remembers. "Mokuba. Your brother's going to come back."
"He doesn't have to," says Mokuba, unconvincingly.
"He will."
Title: wild horses run in me by atlantisairlock
Fandom: Brooklyn 99
Character/Pairing: Ray Holt, Terry Jeffords, Jake Peralta, Gina Linetti, Amy Santiago, Rosa Diaz, Charles Boyle
Word Count: 3116
Warnings: Transphobia
Summary: Everyone is trans.
What made me cry: One of BB99 strenghts is the diversity in the main cast, and given that this little bits are too about different expierinces (about being trans) and reading that just made me happy (and tear up).
They pack her off to ballet academy, citing disciplinary issues and a tendency for violence. It isn't much better there, what with kids and adults being cruel, but ballet gives her strength, gives her discipline, offers her a space where she can simply be without worrying about anything else. When she performs, Rosa sometimes thinks she could do this for the rest of her life, but.
It's a pretty big but. Something in her craves more. Something in her thinks of all the taunts she's endured since the beginning and she still clenches her fists, still has to repress the urge to punch a wall. Didn't she deserve better than that? Didn't everyone and anyone who had to go through the same?
She wants to protect people. She wants to give children something to look up to, hold on to. And maybe she can do that with Swan Lake, but maybe there's another way, too.
Title: Proverbs 31:29 by Fox
Fandom: Anne of Green Gables
Character/Pairing: Marilla Cuthbert, Rachel Lynde, John Blythe, Mailla Cuthbert&Rachel Lynde, Marilla Cuthbert&John Blythe
Word Count: 3922
Warnings: homophobia
Summary: "Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all."
What made me cry: Marillas voice in this is perfect, and there is this softness in the subtle relationship between her and Rachel – and maybe it´s that feeling of security that gets pulled under your feet that hits me so hard.
Marilla did not see Rachel Lynde above twice in the following week, and John Blythe not at all.
Title: triskelion by razbliuto
Fandom: One Piece
Word count: 4959
Character/Pairing: Boa Hancock, Boa Marigold, Boa Sandersonia
Silvers Rayleigh, Shakky (One Piece), Elder Nyon
Summary: "Sink your fangs in, sister, and don't let go. — The Boa Sisters, still breathing despite all odds."
setting: pre-canon, the journey from mariejois to amazon lily.
Warning: slavery; violence; disorderd eating; aftermath of traumatic expierinces, non explicit reference to non con; drowning; passive death wish
What made me cry: The writing style is beautiful, and I adore the very non canon handling of female character agency (also beauty (that and the disordered eating are my personal bangs but all of it really hits the marks) because let´s face it canon is horrible with it. The story has a dark background (see warnings) but with a lovely focus on healing (something i love deeply).and the support of the sisters for each other.
Her legs ache with every step. Her knees creak, her breath burns in her throat. There is a heavy collar on her neck that she will carry for the rest of her life. It will sink her to the bottom of the sea. I am a Kuja, she thinks, all of fourteen. A Kuja. A Kuja. A Kuja.
Her feet sink into the warm mud. The sun is bright and hard, and the long dewy grass feels like home.
Her teeth grind. Her bones pop and snap, and it hurts. It hurts, and Hancock's chin digs into her collarbone and here's Sandersonia's days-old breath against her ear. Her sisters have been with her, more than the eastern stars, more than memories.
Marigold takes another step forward. She imagines her arms growing larger—her hands as big as mountains, her chest wide and barrel-shaped, her legs sturdier than Adam Wood. She carries her sisters, one on each shoulder. Her stomach is fat and joyful, and her mangled dirty hair is thick and ripples like glistening ocean waves.
The collar is not a steel anchor, sinking her into the ocean depths. She can carry it with her, as she carries her sisters, and takes one step after the other, huffing and puffing like a pair of bellows. Her cheeks are red as strawberries, lacquer incense pots, Fisher Tiger's crimson scales and the ring of freedom! freedom! freedom! shaking down the pitiless stars.
Title: to want again by hexagonal
Fandom: One Piece
Word count: 5508
Character/Pairing: Nami, Nefertari Vivi
Nami/Nefertari Vivi
Summary: "Nami is a thief and a pirate and a money-starved harpy. She should be ready to grab her scraps and run, but – it’s fine. It’s fine. It’s fine." Nami is a sex repulsed lesbian
Warnings: Internalized bullshit about sex
What made me cry: The handling of the sex-stuff, the doubts and love and consent is done so beautiful (and the angst around it is so relatable)
Vivi brushes a thumb along the strip of skin between Nami's shirt and shorts, and whispers, "Can I?"
Nami shivers at the contact and hopes that Vivi mistakes it for excitement. "Sure," she says. She's terrified.
Instead of continuing and magically curing Nami of all of her brokenness like she needs to happen, Vivi draws away on the bed, concern evident in the way she furrows her brow.
Title: A Year Without Rain by bluelinerush27
Fandom: Lilo and Stich
Character/Pairing: Nani Pelekai, Lilo Pelekai, Nani&Lilo
Warning: Canon Character death
Word count: 5548
Summary: “For a while, it feels like time stopped at that very moment. Somehow, it passes anyway.“ A fic about the year after their parents die.
What made me cry: The harsh details of the reality of their situation are captured perfectly (but also the love they have in their family.)
Lilo enters what she calls the "purple period". She tells Nani matter-of-factly that it's not a blue period anymore because she's not as sad as she used to be, but she's still sad.
Title: Endless is the Good by escritoireazul
Fandom: Lilo and Stich
Character/Pairing: Nani Pelekai, Lilo Pelekai, Stitch, David Kawena, Cobra Bubbles
Nani Pelekai&Lilo Pelekai
Word Count: 8367
Summary: "Nani and Lilo grow up and together and apart."
What made me cry: All of it is beautiful heartwarming/-breaking and full of detail, my personal bang! Lines were:
“It’s not a very happy history, is it?” and "Finally, Nani asks, “Do you want to tell me about her?” Another glance, at her and away. “You want to know?” Lilo asks, her voice small. She’s never small and quiet like that."
Title: gathers no moss by bluewalk
Fandom: One Piece
Word count: 10754
Character/Pairing: Sanji, Gin, Strawhats, Red-Leg Zeff
Summary: Future Fic (Ruffy is pirate king the strawhats seperated) Sanji (and Gin) growth and heal.
What made me cry: It is tagged with: „#zeff's story is the story of an immigrant parent and you cannot convince me otherwise“ - and thats why i read it no lie - totally worth it – the mix of gratefulness, and guilt – wanting to stay and repay but not being the kind of person who is made for that. Gin learning to read and write, touched me deeply too.
Its a story about growing and healing, and the love feels very warm. It makes me want to see Sanji grow healthy, happy and all (Gin too but that is even in canon because i am weak). This fic also has a great writing style and nice world building details.
Then and now, Sanji had wanted to say, I would live the rest of my life for you. I would count out all my days like coins to place in your palm and still it would not be enough for what I’ve taken from you, for all the possibilities like universes without end that even together amount to less than your singular sacrifice. But if you ask, I would stay, I would stay, I would learn to want to stay.
Zeff wouldn’t ask. Still looks at Sanji now like he is something unbelievable. Like Sanji is something good.
Both times, Sanji had said, with sincerity enough to blister, but still only, “Thank you,” what else did he have to give, for every day since that first day, for letting me grow, for letting me go, for seeing the good in me worth every life-drop of All Blue.
Title: The Storyteller by Beatrice_Otter
Fandom: Big Fish (2003)
Character/Pairing: Edward Bloom/Jenny Hill
Edward Bloom, Jenny Hill, The Witch
Additional Tags: Unreliable Narrator, rural life -Small Towns,Gossip, Infidelity
Word Count: 13199
Summary: "The biggest fish in the river gets that way by not getting caught."
Jenny Hill tells her own story.
What made me cry: Fanfiction is there to here the stories that mainstream/canon doesn't want to tell, and this works so well with the theme from the movie of story telling/truth as not being a constant but depending on the narrator/listener.
The atmosphere is very thigh, the heat, the small-townness, the time – the realness of her sorrows as woman in the world; there are many things I recognize from people around, the line "She couldn't divorce him; he'd never beat her, and to the best of her knowledge he wasn't stepping out on her." specially.
"How'd you do that, Aunt Bertha?" Jenny had asked, fascinated. Wasn't often she'd heard stories where girls got to do things that weren't proper. In fact, this might be the first one.
[…]
"You always were the best piano player in town. Of course you could make it as a teacher, if you really wanted to."
"I do, Momma," Jenny said. "I do."
[…]
... where was she, in the story? The witch was her aunt, Jenny was the one who'd spent time alone with her and impressed the other schoolchildren, Jenny was the one who'd looked into the eye, Jenny was the one who'd been warned not to let herself get hooked. And Jenny had been completely replaced by Eddie.

Word Count: 17363
Summary: "Jess and Jules in California, in college, and falling in love."
Warning: Racism, Internalized Homophobia
What made me cry: My personal breaking point was Jules coming out to her parents, but all of it was a real emotional rollercoaster, I feel tired after reading it from all the emotions but a good kind of tired.
