Why I Rec This Fic: there are certain fanworks that are like essentials, like if you know someone who just finished their the source material for the first time, and you want to direct them toward this works - for Dracy from Thor this is the one for me.
"It doesn’t matter to the universe, so it has to matter to us." Is a incredible touching line and a different but oh so very interesting approach to Dracy.

Why I Rec This Fic: The writing style is beautiful. This take on Odin is very much up my alley, I like people trying to be good (at a relationship in this case but also in general) (and failing at it) a lot.

Why I Rec This Fic: Mostly love the exploration of Odins perspective (though Lokis eyes) and the bits about Asgardian politics but there is also a lot of love between them all and you can feel it (it is of cause also complicated and not happy/functional really).

Why I Rec This Fic: The poetry style of mental illness description is not quite my forte, or how i expierince it, but I think it fits the world and with that the characters of Asgard and how they would talk and think about it. What I love about this fic is that Loki struggling as she does (i relate to the anger problem), has a support system including helpful therapy, and more positive potrayel of that is something I think I (and maybe others too) need.

The Vanir of the movies are shown to be Asian-inspired, specifically Mongolian from the one shot of Hogun's village. Therefore Frigga can be read as white or racebent to being Asian, left ambiguous. The themes of racism are based on the Vanir-Aesir-Jotun distinction and not necessarily on skin color, but given that the Aesir have all, as yet, been portrayed as white (before you ask, Heimdall is Vanir, not that it actually ever comes up) so I'm not denying that's likely a factor. There won't be any derisive remarks based on appearances, however."
Why I Rec This Fic: This is one of the fics that feel clever, I feel like I can see the author having given the world and characters though, and I like that.
Frigga here is definitly more then some motherly saint and I find it great to read and very in line with how I can see the character. Odin too is nailed.

"We are stolen goods, after all. Royal hostages." She bites her lip, spits blood, and curses Odin's name. "A curse, a curse upon all Asgard," she whispers. "They are to end in fire, as we have, and let their gilded halls fall, as ours have done as well."
Frigga can feel the magic here, can feel how much her cousin has poured into this curse. If she had the skill of prophecy, she wonders what new declaration there would be. Wonders if the end of Asgard would now be foretold in fire.
"What now?" she asks, as the magic settles, the curse as solid as any object.
"We live, I suppose," Idunn says. "What else can we do?"

and the follow up, less politics, instead nice Odin/Frigga interaction, that feels like affection/love (respect for eachothers different skillsets; seeing how their humor plays on eachother) but also loaded with forshadowing, nice magic concept that fits the characters and themes of the movie.

Jane reminds him, for one long painful moment, of his brother. They would both rather learn than battle. And still they are both cowed by neither defeat nor threat nor fear. He wonders for an even longer moment if Loki would appreciate the star-brightness of her mind. She has not Loki’s silver-tongued guile. But they both burn within.
Eventually her voice trails away from her numbers, facts, distances of stars and the black spaces in between. He turns to look at her, watches her stare upwards as if she, like Heimdall, could sweep away the spots of light and see everything that lay within and beyond.

Why I Rec This Fic: The dynamic between the friends is fun, and innocent, and then there is the last bit and feels! The writing style is nice too.

Of all the beautiful kingdoms and cities and natural wonders that Sif has visited and explored, she is still enamoured of the Bifrost, of the rainbow bridge that links Asgard to the rest of the universe. Their strength, their beauty, their purpose, the way that they glitter and all that they promise: sometimes her breath still catches, and while she sometimes thinks that the others would laugh if they knew, she also sees the way Thor views the realm that will one day be his when he thinks he will not be watched, and perhaps they would not.

"Junkyard," Barnes says and the knot inside of John's stomach disappears.
"Yes," he says out loud and they search through the pieces for something they can use.

Why I Rec This Fic: Johns childhood must have been – a lot. I like this small glimps about the adjusting period after he and his mother got seperated, and he is confronted with the „normal“ world.

When the foster family finds the Bowie knife under his pillow, he winds up placed with a different couple, and just in time for school. That's a trip. In some ways it's interesting (his mother had never thought history was a vital part of his education, except for those parts of history that haven't actually happened yet), but in most ways, it seems about as useful as those Nintendo games. And everyone else seems to think there is something deeply, deeply wrong with his reactions to both - the school, the games.
It's a whole new world. (Which, coincidentally, is a song in a recent movie that everyone but him knows about, and this is another reason that something is deeply, deeply wrong with him.)

Why I Rec This Fic: Look the whole Connor family is a beautiful tragic mess of (time travle-y) feels, no one gets to have the kind of relationship they want to have with the other, and I was convinced Kyle Reese had a crush on John Connor since the first movie.

Why I Rec This Fic: One of the amazing things about the Terminator movies is how centerd their mythos is around a female character, its still underrepresented in action movies – at the same time Sarah Conner is one of the characters who as a person is extremly chaught in „fate“/a role – stories about characters taking back the narrative are something dear to my heart and it really fits the themes of canon with this fandom.

After that night, she thinks about John more. She doesn’t share anything of him with Pops—he has records on a military leader and tactical genius and can parrot secondhand tales of a near-mythical creature, but he knows nothing about the person underneath: the kid who will grow up in battle, the teenager who will watch the world end, the man who will breathe life back into it.
