Why I Rec This Fic: This story remaind me of this beautiful quote from C.S. Lewis "The Voyage of the Dawn Treader":"In our world," said Eustace, "a star is a huge ball of flaming gas" "Even in your world, my son, that is not what a star is but only what it is made of."- I like this storytelling approche to magic.
Also Howl and Calcifer BOTH having to adjust makes me smile.

Why I Rec This Fic: Kind of a companion piece for me to Epilogue: In which Howl Invites Sophie up to his Bedroom by ai_love_gaara, with respectful and thoughful handling of sex/romance but not written as explicit ace, still Sophies emotions about sex in relation to herself to her own body and other insecurities and how she reacts to this kind of emotions with anger to protect herself – that does feel very in character and relatable.
Also quiete funny.

Why I Rec This Fic: My favorite fic for this fandom so far: Its Calcifers pov and so brings interesting outside perspective (Howl and Sophies relationship is – there are lots of fic about them right after the end of the book, sweet marriage proposals and bickering but – I have a hard time getting into them as a couple, so I really like this look at them) and let the theme of this fic shine with the parallel of dependency/choice – in relationships. The writing style really creates a fairytale mood, and for me feels almost poetic.

Why I Rec This Fic: Relationship Negotiation! Found families and poly relationships!

"There were a lot of things that needed to be said. Do you know what it means to fall in love with someone who's really bits of two someones that got mashed together?"
"Not exactly," Sophie said, but her mind flashed to the moment when she had pinched Calcifer off of Howl's heart. Privately she thought that it was a bit early for Lettie to say things like "in love". But she could see no good would come of lecturing her about it now.
"Neither did we," Lettie explained. "That's why we talked about it."
That sounded almost ridiculously straightforward. "Well I'm glad that worked for you," Sophie said, a little apprehensively. "But that doesn't mean it will work for me."

Why I Rec This Fic: Like everyone else in the stoy, Letty is flawed, everything around her is changing and she has to deal with that, the way she does, the mistakes she makes (family, has the habit to follow old habits, even when the old roles do more harm then good) feel real, but so does the love she has for her sister, and her steps forward.
