Title: The Fairy Queen by orphan_account
Fandom:
A Little Princess - Frances Hodgson Burnett
Character/Pairing:
Becky/Sara Crewe

Word Count: 1016
Summary:
"Becky has always feared expulsion from Fairyland."

"…And so it came to pass on this day that Randall was lying by the stream in the woods, whiling away the hours by listening to it gurgle. The leaves on the trees above him were turning golden as autumn spread over the land. Very, very faintly, he could hear the sound of someone singing and so, being the gallant knight Randall, he chased the song over hill and dale until he found the singer. He found her sitting by a well and he gasped, for she was the most beautiful maiden he had ever seen. She had golden curls that spilled all the way down to her feet and her eyes were as blue as the sky. Her shape was slender and willowy; and as she rose and came towards Randall, he became utterly enchanted by the Fairy Queen." Becky has never seen a truly blue sky; after all, she lives in London, where smog clouds the air from the ground to the stars and even on a good day all you can see is a slightly blue-tinted grey. She knows, however, that it must be bright and brilliant and beautiful, because Sara says so, and that's always been good enough for Becky.

"You don't need to tell a story tonight, Miss." Becky gestured around them. "Everythin' came true."
Sara's answering smile was brief. She dropped her gaze to her lap, looking at her own hands, and Becky, unsure, followed suit. Sara's fingers were thin and elegant, but her nails were worn short rather than clipped, and her palms calloused from hard work. Greatly daring, Becky put one stubby-fingered paw on top, feeling her own callouses rasp against Sara's skin.

Title: Liberté, Egalité, Sororité by NaomiK for sweetcarolanne
Fandom:
A Little Princess - Frances Hodgson Burnett
Character/Pairing:
Sara Crewe, Becky

Tom Carrisford, Ram Dass, Orginal Female Character(s),
Sara Crewe/Becky
Word Count: 5521
Summary:
"Sara, visiting France for the first time, suggests that Becky travel as her friend -- not as her maid."

Warning: small mentions of period-typical classism, homophobia, and sexism
Why I Rec This Fic:
A warm story, I feel the fascination and joy the girls feel with their travel. I love that they meet other queer people, stories about communities are very important to me, queer community in historic fiction has a special spot in it, and the little bits of class solidarity are also nice.

It was a cooler night tonight, and Becky was shivering when they climbed under the covers. “Oh, Becky, this won’t do,” Sara said. “Let me warm you up.” Becky snuggled up against her, and Sara wrapped one arm over her waist and felt Becky’s shivering ease. “Let’s go see the ruins tomorrow. And then see if they’ve finished our frocks, because even if we could come in our ‘blue stockings’ to the Salon, I’d rather be properly dressed.” They slept twined together, Becky resting her head on Sara's arm.

Title: Discipulae by NaomiK for mrsredboots
Fandom:
A Little Princess - Frances Hodgson Burnett
Character/Pairing:
Sara Crewe, Becky

Tom Carrisford, Ram Dass, Orginal Female Character(s),
Sara Crewe & Becky
Word Count: 6463
Summary:
"I just realized," Sara said. "Becky, I could have a tutor now. I could hire someone to teach me anything I wanted. All the things that are hard to learn alone from books — Greek and Latin, Sanskrit, algebra, anything I wanted. What would you learn, Becky, if you could?"

Warnings: period typical classism, period typical sexism
Why I Rec This Fic:
It´s a warm kind of story, Becky and Saras relationship is very supportive. There are nice historical details in this story. But most of all I love Beckys growth in this. Good for her.

“Me learn French?” Becky said with a laugh.
“Why not? Ram Dass learned English.”
“That’s English.”
“You could have been born in France,” Sara said. “It’s just an accident of birth you were born in England. If you’d been born in France, you’d have grown up speaking French, and it would be English that was the strange, foreign language!”
“If you say so, miss,” Becky said, in a tone that suggested she considered this one of Sara’s wilder fancies.

Tom Carrisford, Sara Crewe

Summary:
„Responsibility is easier for some then others.“
Why I Rec This Fic:

Title: Evening Visit by Jestana
Fandom:
A Little Princess - Frances Hodgson Burnett
Character/Pairing
: Ermengarde St.John, Lottie Legh, Mr. St.John

Ermengarde St.John & Lottie Legh, Ermengarde & Mr. St.John
Word Count: 1157
Summary:
"Ermengarde invites Lottie to visit for the evening."
Why I Rec This Fic: I like this happy future for them, they deserve that.

They proceeded there and spent the time before dinner talking about their day at The Ralph Crewe Home, an orphanage Sarah had started to provide food and shelter to orphans who hadn't had someone to take them in. Ermengarde, it turned out, volunteered there several days a week to tutor children struggling with their lessons. "Sarah was an immense help to me and I want to do the same for these children." "I'm sorry you were so miserable, my dear, but I'm glad you gained such a good friend in Miss Crewe," Mr. St. John groped on the arm of his chair for a moment before Ermengarde took his hand and gave it a squeeze. This was clearly a familiar subject, because Ermengarde didn't respond beyond the squeeze.

Title: Scattering Largesse by Chocolatepot for sweetcarolanne
Fandom:
A Little Princess - Frances Hodgson Burnett
Character/Pairing
: Sara Crewe, Becky

Word Count: 1608
Summary:
"Sara and Becky must create new lives for themselves once away from Miss Minchin's."
Why I Rec This Fic: Love their care for each other, but more so love that they want to pass that care on to others too.

“I don’t think about it, Uncle Tom,” she said frankly. “I did when I first came here, because it was such a great change, but now it doesn’t come to mind very often. When it does, it feels like a bad dream that I’m remembering, and it doesn’t hurt me.”
This was not quite true. Sara never lied, but it was her first instinct to protect those she loved, even from emotional pain. It was clear to her from the first time she met Mr. Carrisford that he inflicted agonies upon himself at the thought of his culpability in the tragedies of her life, so she was wont to put her bravest face on things. She didn’t think of it often and it was like a bad dream, but a sufficiently bad dream can leave one shaking in bed and nervous the next day, and each dreadful memory was like its own bad dream.

Title: The Rages of Sara Crewe by Robiness for Chocolatepot
Fandom: A Little Princess - Frances Hodgson Burnett
Character/Pairing:
Sara Crewe,

Tom Carrisford, Becky, Ermengarde St.John, Anne
Word Count: 2250
Summary:
"Sara Crewe was a good-tempered child."

Warning: canonical past child abuse
Why I Rec This Fic:
Even if Sara, Anne and Becky got their „happy end“, they still have lived through trauma and that has shaped them. I like how this fic explores it, including the uglier bit of anger. I love angry female characters, I think it is important to teach children they do not have to suppress their anger or sadness but that we just have to find constructive ways to deal with them, but the ideal Sara would grow up and supposed to be in the book would blame her for being angry and I love her coming to terms with herself about it. I also like the bits about class here, Tom Carrisford is well meaning but he lacks certain understanding of her situation, and the fic blames neither for it but makes that clear.
