This is a video made out of music videos. So it´s less literal/context reference lyric matches and more general "mood". The song has a bit of "don´t have sex, you will get pregnant and die" thing in it but i turned it a bit to a more positiv thing, it´s supposed to be about exploring the world and oneself (gender, friendships,love,passions) but always having a place to come home too. 

I had a lot of problems making this video (and all of them were gosthframes, or maybe 99 % were gosthframes) but also a lot of fun. I am kind of proud of finally having finished it and even if i think i should try another video editing pogram (i did already but so far very very unsucessfull) i really want to make simelar themed vids about different colours using music videos (i love music videos! anyone want to rec me some? i would love to expand my taste!)

KBG84 - Come on and Dance (age average in this girl group is 84, sweet dancing video, and the beauty of the island)

John Legend - You & I (Nobody in the World) (a diverse set of woman, from the perspective of a mirror)

Ingrid Michaelson - Girls Chase Boys (the colour pink, and red, red lips and nails, black backgrounds: contrast, gender feels)

Janelle Monáe - Q.U.E.E.N. feat. Erykah Badu ("time traveling rebels" stuck in a museum coming back to live. black and white with red  highlights)

Jane Zhang - Dust My Shoulders Off (recreating of famous art work)

Bibi Bourelly - Sally (a celebration of a lot of different people, also dancing)

the song always felt a bit negative for me but i did not want to make a negative video, i wanted something happy (and dare i to say empowering? that word has a lot of baggage). yes Polly is all of this people, all of this people are Polly.
if i had to pick one scene to show my idea of this video it would be the one with the girl with the bloody nose, first we just see that (the big city kicked her butt) but then we see her smile as she removes her hand from her face, happy and proud (and its not nessary just despite but also because, because she took it and still stands). i love the vaccuming scene.its the one scene with a bit of bitter irony but that too is part of exploring yourself and the world. also a bit of a cheat because this scene is important to me because of the in music video context it comes from "Polly made confession to her papa" is from Missy Elliot - Work it where she sings "wether you made the money working 9 to 5 or shaking your ass" This is not a tearful confession,

thanks! i love getting comments, most of all from people who make fanvideos too.
i had a lot of fun with it even if it was hard (i have never before used so many different sources (even if they are all short)), i would love to make it a series with other colours too, do you have any music videos you love (it could be any kind of ones, story telling onces, cool experimental concepts, just fun dancing, etc).
i think from the lose "theme" of this video the most point scene is the one with the girl with the bloody nose, first we just see that, as her hand cover most of her face, then she removes them and we see that she is smiling, happy with it. proud a bit.

I went to YouTube first 'cause that's where I like to watch videos - But hey! you have a DW too, so I'll copy my comments here as well. This was an exciting, and thought provoking watch for me, so thanks again for making and sharing it!

I'm a massive Kinks fan so that's why I clicked the vid. It took a few rewatches to try to re-ground my experience of the song in the visuals and themes you've presented. I wasn't completely successful because it turns out I have too much lyrical/contextual baggage with this song. The edits that resonated most with me were the clips that did pick up on the lyric and then subvert/illuminate the meaning. In particular:

:24 LOVED this vacuuming shot. Polly would have had a shit job
:41 Great shot, great nails, great "cold burst of reality" cut into the preceding, rather frantic sequence of life in the big city.
1:19 The big city has kicked Polly's ass, and she knows it - BUT, now she knows she can stand up to a big city ass kicking. She came, she saw, she big picture conquered - and now she can go home knowing she gave it a shot. This is a huge lyrical/contextual subversion and it was amazing! Big city life (or whatever that stands in as metaphor for the individual viewer)
is not for everyone and going back home (insert appropriate metaphor here) is a totally choice.
2:07 Another beautiful clip. This one plays more straight with the lyrics. Polly is an amalgam of the karaoke girl, the old lady, the kids at the table. Polly's had a world of experiences; there is a world of Polly's out there.

On straight up aesthetics and craft, I LOVED the sequence of shots at :05-:08 (clocks/dominoes/shoe flower crush)
What's the vid at 1:08 - gorgeous clip! I loved the red things concept!

I love how you've pushed the idea of transformative vidding! I'll keep an eye out for the next vid in this series.
