Why I Rec This Fic: Lucy is awesome, she is angry and driven, and she will not let anyone else be the key to her own happiness. Also not something i can personal relate to (i always failed spectacular at everything) but gifted kids and the fear of failure – written beautiful.

“D’you miss it?” He follows her eyes to the piano, sitting dusty in the corner. He pulls away from her, sitting up and frowning down. Despite this, she seems nonplussed and merely runs a hand across the bed spread. “I think it broke your heart, y’know? They drink punch and Patty fails to find the beat in a song for much longer than a few perfect seconds, but Marcie's laughter never sounds mocking, so Patty keeps doing the twist without inhibitions or much coordination. Their knees and bodies bump accidentally once or twice during the fun, and so much adrenaline courses through her by the time the gymnasium lights come up, she twirls Marcie around several times on the walk back towards their neighborhood.
